Google Search is Removing Continuous Scroll From Results Page

It appears that many people didn't really use the feature.

Google has decided to make things much simpler and faster for web surfers who search for keywords regularly by removing the "continuous scroll" feature, which loads more results when users scroll past the first page of the search results.

Instead, it is bringing back the old "pagination bar" feature at the footer of the Google Search results.

Starting June 25th, this year, Google said that it will remove the continuous scroll feature for the desktop Google Search results, while that for the mobile search results will be removed in the coming month.

Google has said that its reason for going back to the old pagination bar feature was that it discovered that many users did not utilize the additional results loaded by continuous scrolling given that it wasn't a feature that was explicitly requested. Also, the loaded extra results did not lead to significantly higher satisfaction with Google Search.

It is disappointing to see the continuous scroll feature on Google search come to an end after a relatively short lifespan. Introduced in October 2021 for mobile search and in December 2022 for desktop search, it lasted only about a year and a half for desktop users and a year and eight months for mobile users.

With the pagination bar coming back, blogs and websites might have to up their SEO game even further to ensure they rank on the first page for relevant keywords that users search for, as many users are less likely to click on subsequent pages while searching for a keyword.
