Google is no stranger to boosting productivity with its suite of tools in Google Workspace with its AI models. From Gmail to Sheets, many people rely on these apps daily and with Gemini slowly being infused into them, these apps are becoming more helpful.

Now, Google is adding an exciting new feature to Google Docs called "Help Me Create," that is powered by Gemini AI. This tool promises to make document creation faster and more efficient, allowing users to generate formatted documents from scratch with minimal effort.

Essentially, it lets you create documents by providing prompts or pulling content from your Google Workspace files. Whether you’re working on a proposal, blog post, meeting notes, or even a dinner menu, the AI takes care of formatting and content generation.

Users can simply type a prompt or select a file from their Google Drive using the "@" symbol. From there, the AI tailors the document based on the context you provide—such as the audience or purpose—creating a polished result without needing to start from a blank page.

This feature opens up plenty of use cases. It can help professionals quickly draft proposals or reports, while bloggers might use it to brainstorm or write new content. Event planners could use this to create menus or itineraries, and students could use it to generate study materials. The possibilities are endless, making it a versatile tool for a variety of needs.

While "Help Me Create" is a game-changer for Google Docs, it’s not the only AI tool out there. Microsoft’s Copilot, integrated into Office apps like Word, also uses AI to generate and refine documents. However, Google’s solution stands out by being directly embedded in Google Docs, allowing seamless integration with files already stored in Google Drive.

Currently, "Help Me Create" is available on desktop for users in the Gemini for Google Workspace Alpha and Workspace Labs programs. It’s still in early access, but once it rolls out more broadly, it could transform how we work with documents in Google Docs, saving time and boosting productivity. Whether you’re drafting a report or creating content from scratch, this AI feature is one to watch.
