Earlier this year at the Google I/O event, Google introduced Circle to Search, a powerful visual search tool that lets Android users quickly search by circling an object on their screen.

However, this feature has been exclusive to a select few Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices, leaving many Android users still relying on the trusty old Google Lens. But change is in the air, and Circle to Search could soon be available to far more users.

How to Use the “Circle-to-Search” Feature on Google Pixel
This is a new way of searching for information on your mobile device.

Like Google Lens, Circle to Search allows you to search the web based on an image or something in the world around you. But, unlike Google Lens, it doesn’t require users to switch between apps, making it far more convenient.

A simple gesture on almost any screen activates the tool, making it faster and easier to use.

Despite its powerful capabilities, Circle to Search has been locked to a few high-end devices – until now. There are strong signs that this exclusivity is about to end.

How to Use the Circle to Search Feature on a Samsung Phone
In this article, we will highlight the Samsung models that can access this feature and how to use it.

TECNO, the Chinese smartphone maker, recently confirmed that Circle to Search will be available on its upcoming Phantom V Fold 2 in October. This expansion hints that Google is finally ready to broaden the reach of this tool to more Android devices, ending its tight exclusivity with Pixel and Samsung.

Tech reviewers like YouTuber Ben Sin and Android Central expert Mishaal Rahman were tipped off about the feature’s arrival ahead of the Phantom V Fold 2's launch. On X, Rahman posted that Google plans to expand Circle to Search to more Android phones next month, suggesting that devices from other manufacturers will soon benefit from this cutting-edge functionality.

While Google hasn’t officially announced the expansion, TECNO’s confirmation aligns with the company’s ambitious plan to bring Circle to Search to 200 million devices by the end of this year.

While its exclusivity was initially expected to last longer, Google seems eager to expand this feature’s footprint much faster than anticipated.

The anticipation is building, and the clues are hard to ignore. Android users from brands like OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Motorola could soon have access to Circle to Search, revolutionizing how they perform visual searches.

What’s still unclear is whether the feature will be reserved for flagship models or if mid-range and budget phones will also get the upgrade.
