After a two-month delay since its debut at the “Made by Google” event in August, Google’s Pixel 9 Pro is finally arriving in India.

Pre-orders open on October 17 at 12 PM IST through Flipkart, Croma, and Reliance Digital, with a price tag of ₹1,09,999 for the 256GB model.

This release completes the Pixel 9 lineup in India, joining the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which launched locally in September.

In this article, we talk about everything you need to know on the recent updates to Google Pixel devices

Google’s phased release strategy—first introducing select models, then adding the Fold and now the Pro—reflects a calculated entry into India’s competitive premium smartphone market where Apple and Samsung are well-established. But with the full lineup in place, Google is clearly signalling that it’s ready to contend in this space.

At the core of the Pixel 9 Pro is Google’s Tensor G4 processor and Gemini AI model, which together drive the device’s unique AI-focused experience. While competitors like the iPhone 16 Pro and Galaxy S24 prioritize raw processing power, the Pixel 9 Pro sets itself apart with advanced AI features like real-time translation, photo editing, and personalized voice assistance.

This AI-centered approach, coupled with Google’s commitment to seven years of Android updates, makes it an appealing choice for users who value longevity.

At the heart of this update is the Gemini Nano AI, which is finally making its debut on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a after months of anticipation.

The Pixel 9 Pro’s 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display also offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive 3,000 nits of peak brightness, ensuring visibility in all lighting conditions.

Reinforced with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an IP68 rating, it’s built to withstand everyday wear and tear. The 4,700mAh battery with 45W wired and Qi wireless charging also adds to its reliability, making it ideal for on-the-go users who need dependable battery life.

Photography on the Pixel 9 Pro is another standout feature. With a 50MP main sensor, 48MP ultra-wide lens, and 48MP telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom, Google showcases its expertise in computational photography. Tools like Super Res Zoom and Magic Eraser also add flexibility, setting the Pixel 9 Pro apart from the high-quality cameras in the iPhone 15 Pro and Galaxy S24.

As Google rounds out its Pixel lineup in India, the Pixel 9 Pro is poised to attract attention in the premium market. Blending advanced AI capabilities, robust design, and long-term support, the Pixel 9 Pro stands as a compelling option for those seeking a future-ready, AI-enhanced smartphone.
