How to change your hotspot name and password on an iPhone
Customize your personal network's identity and security with a quick edit.
As a remote worker who frequently finds myself working from coffee shops, co-working spaces, and even park benches, I've come to rely heavily on my iPhone's personal hotspot for internet access.
But early in my remote work journey, I realized a potential security risk: my iPhone's hotspot name was something like "Oluwaseun's iPhone," broadcasting my name to anyone nearby who might be scanning for WiFi networks. My hotspot password was something equally generic and easy to guess, leaving my connection vulnerable to unauthorized access.
What many people don't realize is that your iPhone's name is actually your hotspot name. This means the only way to change your hotspot name is to change your iPhone's name itself.
If you're someone like me who frequently uses their iPhone's hotspot in public places, I will show you steps to easily change your hotspot's name and password.
