Rich Communication Services (RCS) is a contemporary messaging protocol designed to supersede conventional SMS and MMS. Offering enhanced features comparable to popular instant messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal, RCS also incorporates elements reminiscent of Apple's iMessage. Interestingly, although positioned as an iMessage competitor, Apple intends to introduce RCS support for iPhones through a software update in 2024. To use RCS, you'll need Google Messages if your default messaging app lacks support, contingent on your country or carrier compatibility.
