How to Improve Fingerprint Accuracy on your Phone

Fingerprint sensors have become essential features for the security and privacy of smartphones. These features not only offer a great way to unlock the device but also enhance the security of apps on your phone.

However, the accuracy of your fingerprint sensor fades away with time, which leaves you with the extra cost of repairing or buying a new smartphone.

To save up on the extra expenses, here are five steps that can help you improve your fingerprint accuracy.

Step 1: Clean Your Sensor Regularly

Inaccurate readings occur when the sensor becomes contaminated with dirt, dust, and oils from your fingers.

To clean the dirt off your sensor,

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the sensor.
  • For a more thorough cleaning, dampen the cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher) and wipe the sensor. Ensure the alcohol does not seep into any openings.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the sensor.
