Passkeys are authentication alternatives requiring validation by password, Face ID, or biometrics. This doesn’t seem different from regular authentication, so you may be wondering what’s so special about it that WhatsApp is integrating.
Here is the plus point: you no longer need the 2-factor authentication, OTP, and password to log in to your WhatsApp if logged out. With just your registered authentication on your Android, you can easily log in to your WhatsApp with your biometrics or PIN.
This also enhances security, as the passkey is stored on your device locally, deterring hackers, as there is no password to steal.
It should be noted that this feature is only available across some Android devices at the moment, but will soon be available for iOS users.
