If you're experiencing some media issues with Google Messages, you're not alone
And there's a fix.
The popular texting app has been giving users a hard time with blurry images, slow performance, and videos that just wouldn't cooperate. Thankfully, Google is finally stepping up to fix these problems, as it should.
So, what's been going on with Google Messages? For a few months now, users have been complaining all over Reddit and X (previously Twitter) about images failing to load, videos looking like they came from a blurry dream, and the app slowing down to a crawl when handling multimedia.

This has been a major problem, especially since Google Messages is the go-to texting app for so many Android phones. But here's the good news: Google's community support manager recently posted that updates are rolling out to improve media receiving performance.
Now, I know what you're thinking—"About time!"
Interestingly, Google hasn't specified whether these updates address all the recent issues or just the media problems. But honestly, as long as things get better, I don't think anyone will complain. They might be backend changes or through an update on the Google Play Store—either way, improvements are on the way.

On the brighter side, Google has been adding some incredible safety features to Messages lately, like the Scam Message Detection that just came out this month. So, while they're fixing the annoying bugs causing the media-related problem, they're also making the app safer for all of us.
