Indian agritech startup Deep Rooted raises $12.5 million
Deep Rooted, an India-based farm-to-consumer agritech startup that is producing fruits and vegetables, has raised $12.5 million in its new funding round led by IvyCap Ventures, to improve its offering in the country.
- The funds will be used to ensure its operation cover the major cities in South India, strengthen its technology stack, and hire more talents across marketing, technology, and business functions in the next 12 months, the startup says.
- Deep Rooted uses its technology stack to nurture fruits and vegetables and supply contamination-free produce, alongside last-mile delivery of the produce. The agritech startup was co-founded in 2020 by Avinash B R, Gururaj Rao, Arvind Murali, and Santhosh Narasipura.
- The fruits and vegetables category is ripe for disruption and Deep Rooted, having focused on the category overtime has shown a sustainable and profitable view of the opportunity for disruption, while delivering values to customers and end users, Ashish Wadhwani, partner at IvyCap Ventures says.
- Accel, Omnivore, and Mayfield participated in the funding round. The agritech startup has turned out over 300 produces and reached up to 1,000 farmers and more than 1 million customers so far, it claims.
