India's first dedicated live-c0mmerce platform, Shopr.TV has announced the close of a $1.8 million seed round, with participation from YCombinatior, BEENEXT and others.

  • Launched in 2021, Shopr.TV is a dedicated live commerce platform that allows users to buy products directly from a livestream.
  • This business model offers a unique avenue for retailers and individual sellers to create direct, real-time communication channels with customers and make sales.
  • The trend has been growing steadily in India, accelerated mainly by the changes in consumer behaviour since the onset of the pandemic. Recent market research shows that the sector will exceed $5 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) by 2025.
  • Shopr.TV claims to have recorded 100% month-on-month growth, both in terms of GMV and the total number of orders. A testament to the huge market potential in the vertical. The startup says it has achieved this growth organically without spending on customer acquisition.
  • Currently, the platform hosts over a hundred sellers, offering everything from fashion apparel, thrift finds, and jewellery to cosmetics and beauty products.
  • Shopr.TV says it will invest the funds in developing its technology, product and team.
