Indonesian cloud kitchen startup Legit Group announced the raise of $13.7 million in a Series A funding round to fuel its market expansion.
Founded in 2021 after the global shift toward online food delivery during the pandemic, Legit Group runs a multi-brand cloud kitchen business model with no offline presence.
The food tech startup currently operates four of its own cloud brands namely, Pastaria, Sei’Tan, Sek Fan and Ryujin covering 30 points in Jabodetabek, the larger Jakarta metropolitan area. It has plans to launch two more brands and expand to 135 distribution points by the end of the year.
Since its last funding round, Legit Group says its sales have grown three times.
Empowered by the new funding, the startup plans to expand into new areas with large delivery markets, as 95% of its outlets are within the Jakarta area. It also plans to develop its food and beverage (F&B) technology and launch new products and brands to provide more efficient cloud kitchen solutions.
The round was led by MDI Ventures and witnessed participation from other investors including Sinar Mas Digital Ventures (SMDV), East Ventures, and Winter Capital.
It follows a $3 million seed round in September 2021 with East Ventures as the lead investor and participation from AC Ventures.
