Instagram now has profile cards, an easier way to share your personality

Instagram has introduced a new way to share your profile on the app, called the "Profile Card." This feature allows users to not only share a link to their profile but, also provide a glimpse into their personality.

As the name implies, users can share a digital card that connects to their Instagram profile. The cards feature two sides, each providing a variety of customization options that give people a glimpse of who you are before they visit your profile.

Users can include descriptions, links to websites, and a favourite picture as wallpaper, all while playing a favourite song or any chosen track in the background as the card is viewed.

So far, there hasn't been any other social media platform with a feature similar to this. The closest thing to this most have to offer is the ability to share links and maybe QR codes to a profile.

This update is part of a series of enhancements that Meta has been rolling out to its picture-focused app. Recently, the company made minor updates to Instagram, improving the overall user experience. One notable feature allows users to comment publicly on people's stories.

With continued improvements to the app, the app may begin to experience better growth with its user base. In 2022, the app reportedly crossed 2 billion active users. But, since then, it has only grown to 2.35 billion active users based on a report this year from Exploding Topics.

Although it currently ranks fifth in active monthly users—three of the top five being Meta-owned companies per Exploding Topics—continuous updates like this could attract even more attention to the app.
