Dubai's Instashop acquires B2B marketplace GroCart to expand across the MENA region
InstaShop, the leading online marketplace for supermarkets, pharmacies, pet shops and other businesses in the Middle East, has announced the acquisition of GroCart, a B2B wholesale marketplace service known for its exceptional customer experience and wide product selection.
Through a user-friendly web platform, GroCart simplifies retail supply chain logistics for FMCG businesses. GroCart wants to expand its smart B2B operations across the MENA region, focusing on nations with a high number of small stores like Egypt.
The B2B wholesale marketplace has 15,000 successful orders and agreements with over 200 prominent suppliers supplying more than 5,000 products in the UAE. This strategic move solidifies Instashop's commitment to expanding its market presence and enhancing the convenience and accessibility of grocery shopping for customers as well as businesses.
The acquisition of GroCart marks a critical turning point for InstaShop, positioning it to take the lead as the preferred platform for local companies wishing to streamline their operations and boost their bottom line.
This decision would also allow InstaShop to grow its Traditional Trade & HORECA business, as the FMCG wholesale sector alone in the UAE is worth $40 billion. The purpose of InstaShop and its aggressive regional growth plan is compatible with this acquisition.
Founded by Hussein Hosni and Nesma Zaghow, both of whom come from a pharmaceutical background, GroCart was established to support the transformation of the grocery market scene during the peak of Covid-19 in 2020. The platform offers a one-stop-shop solution for wholesalers, retailers, and manufacturers in the region.
