CHART: IT Skills Shortage Affects 60% to 80% of Asia/Pacific Organizations
A new survey by the International Data Corporation (IDC) has shown that around 60% - 80% of APAC organizations find it difficult or extremely difficult to fill vacancies in many IT roles including security, developers, and data professionals.
Despite the recent layoffs announced by big tech companies making news headlines, the challenge of filling open job positions remains a top concern for organizations across various industries, particularly those that rely heavily on labour, the report said, underlining that the layoffs do not reflect the broader skills shortage in the job market.
It noted that 55% of organizations in the APAC region reported an increase in the number of employees resigning from their jobs, exacerbating the talent shortage. As a result, 37% of organizations in the AP region had to postpone their technology-related initiatives, while 36% had to alter the direction of their technology initiatives.
