Latin America's smartphone market continues its hot streak, posting a fourth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth in Q2 2024.
Canalys’ latest research shows shipments surged by 20% year-on-year, reaching 33.5 million units. This growth has been fueled by an influx of budget-friendly devices, with smartphones priced under $200 making up the largest share since 2021. Consumers across the region are increasingly opting for affordable models, and the market is booming as a result.
Leading the charge in this growth is Samsung, which continues to dominate the region. In Q2 2024, Samsung shipped 10.2 million units, a 9% year-on-year increase, largely driven by its popular A-series smartphones.
For the first time, Xiaomi secured second place in the region with a 35% increase, shipping 6.2 million devices—its highest quarterly volume ever in Latin America. Motorola, while maintaining third place, shipped 5.7 million units but saw no growth compared to last year. Meanwhile, smaller brands like TRANSSION and HONOR are gaining momentum, with both achieving significant growth—52% and 47%, respectively—thanks to their affordable yet feature-packed offerings.
