For Galaxy users eager to finally get their hands on Android 15 through One UI 7, the wait may have just gotten longer. Despite more than 6 months of testing and multiple beta versions, Samsung has paused the global rollout of its latest software update due to a critical bug.

The stable One UI 7 update had just started rolling out to Galaxy S24 devices in South Korea, Europe, and the US last week. After six beta builds, expectations were high that the final version would be ready for prime time. But that wasn't the case, as Samsung pulled the update from its servers over the weekend. According to reports, a serious bug was discovered in the firmware for Korean Galaxy S24 models—enough to halt the release altogether.

It’s not just the S24 lineup that's affected. Samsung has also paused the Android 15 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 in Korea and parts of Europe. The exact nature of the bug hasn’t been shared publicly, but its severity appears to have impacted Samsung’s global release plans.

For those who already installed the update, Samsung is expected to push out a patched version once the issue is resolved. But there’s no clear timeline for when that might happen.

This delay puts a question mark over the rollout for other devices as well. Samsung Vietnam had earlier indicated that the Galaxy S23, Fold 5, and Flip 5 would start receiving the stable One UI 7 update this week. That schedule now looks uncertain, especially with the company’s 2024 flagship models still in limbo.

It’s not the first time Samsung has had to hit pause. A similar incident occurred with the release of One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy S22 series last year. The company had to pull the update and reissue a fixed version weeks later, frustrating users in the process.

While One UI 7 brings promising upgrades, the repeated stumbles in its release could erode confidence, particularly for users who’ve already waited over six months for Android 15.

As Samsung works behind the scenes to address the issue, users are once again left wondering: How long is too long to wait for a stable update?
