Meta brings the ability to share HD photos and other features to its Messenger chat app
Meta Platforms is bringing some significant upgrades to its Facebook Messenger app with a bunch of features users have been clamouring for.
One of the most anticipated updates is the ability to send photos in high-definition (HD). Similar to WhatsApp, Messenger users can simply toggle an "HD" option when sending photos, promising you clearer and crisper images within your chats. This functionality is perfect for sharing special moments or showcasing creative photography within chats.
Expanding on the theme of sharing memories, Messenger now offers the capability to create shared albums with friends. Meta says you can further rename the album according to your preferences. All group chat members are also allowed to view, add, delete, and download pictures and videos from the respective album.
There's more! Sharing doesn't stop at photos. Messenger is ditching email as the go-to platform for large files. The chat app now supports larger files for up to 100MB allowing users to share all major file formats, such as Word, PDF, and Excel directly within chats.
Rounding up this list of new features, Messenger introduces a convenient way to add new connections through QR codes. Simply scan a friend's code or share your unique link to initiate a message thread seamlessly. This update makes connecting with new people on Messenger quicker and more straightforward than ever before.
These new features address some long-standing limitations and bring Messenger closer to other chat platforms like WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Telegram. They also represent a welcome improvement for those who rely heavily on the platform.
