Meta experiments with a cross-post feature on Instagram and Threads
By accessing this feature, users can easily control cross-posting to their Instagram accounts.
In a bid to bridge varying platforms and contents to social media audiences, Meta has started an experiment to encourage users to post to Threads by providing an easy toggle that allows cross-posting from Instagram to the X rival platform.
This new feature allows users to seamlessly share photos from Instagram to Threads with a single click. You can even choose to keep the cross-posting option permanently enabled for all future posts, saving you time and effort- or turn it off altogether.
While Instagram Reels aren't currently supported for automatic cross-posting, the feature seamlessly handles still images. Posts from Instagram with captions are also transitioned to text on Threads when cross-posting. This makes Threads an ideal platform to showcase your best photos and connect with friends in a more intimate setting.
Alongside the cross-posting test, Meta is also running an active creator bonus program on Threads. This program incentivizes accounts with high follower counts to post on the platform, potentially attracting more users and content creation.
This cross-posting integration with Instagram, alongside frequent promotions from other members of Meta's app family including Facebook, has fueled Threads' growth to over 150 million active daily users. The platform also continues to evolve with innovative features like carousels and automatic status updates.
Whether these feature additions can make Threads compete on equal footing with X is yet to be seen, but one thing to note is that it is on every social media user’s radar.
