Meta Plans to Bring Generative AI to Metaverse Games

Metaverse gamers are about to have a new and unique experience when playing metaverse games, as Meta has announced that it is bringing more generative AI technology into VR, AR, and mixed reality games.

Meta is serious about reinventing its waning metaverse strategy and is going as far as to research and prototype new customer experiences with new types of gameplay that constantly change each time you play them.

This means that as a metaverse gamer, you will be introduced to gameplay that has a lot of exploration with no deterministic paths, unlike conventional games, which makes a lot of sense given that the metaverse is quite vast.

Meta's focus will be on its own family of metaverse games, apps, and creation resources called Horizon. However, in the future, it could expand to games and experiences on non-Meta platforms like smartphones and PCs.

Meta is coming up with this new effort because it is still yet to have a blockbuster metaverse project and has struggled to attract users to its Horizon mixed reality platform, making huge operating losses to the tune of billions of dollars.

Mark Zuckerberg confirmed in a statement that generative AI is a long-term future investment for the company and that he plans to invest heavily in the new venture, although he clarified that it would take Meta years before the company begins to make substantial returns from generative AI.

Meta, with this new development, joins the likes of Disney-backed Inworld and Artifical Agency, which have begun to integrate elements of generative AI into game development to create more dynamic game dialogues and narratives.

Hopefully, in the future, we can expect more tech giants to take an interest in the integration of generative AI into the metaverse and provide more dynamism and immersive experiences to over 600 million metaverse users globally per data from Embryo.com.
