Meta slashes the price of the Quest 2
Have you been thinking about buying a Meta Quest 2 VR headset but put off by the price? Good news! It's just become a lot more affordable.
This is because Meta has announced a price cut for the Quest 2, setting the new price for the base 128GB model at $199 in a move aimed at making virtual reality more accessible. This will be the second time this year that Meta has reduced the price of its VR headset.
This reduction, down from its previous $249 and a far cry from the $299 price point at the beginning of the year, shows Meta's commitment to clearing out stock of the Quest 2 in anticipation of newer models.
Quest 2, renowned for its high-resolution fast-switching LCD displays and a 90Hz refresh rate, remains a top choice for budget-conscious VR lovers looking to dive into everything from immersive gaming to virtual fitness. Coupled with a 50% price reduction on essential accessories—like the Elite Strap and Fit Pack—Meta is making VR more budget-friendly than ever.
This pricing strategy shows Meta’s aggressive market positioning against competitors like HTC Vive and Sony PlayStation VR.
As VR technology becomes more integrated into everyday entertainment and fitness routines, companies are vying to capture a growing market set to exceed $250 billion by 2028. With over 10 million Quest 2 units sold to date, Meta’s latest price cut could not only clear out inventory but significantly broaden its user base, making VR a mainstream tool rather than a luxury.
