Microsoft 365 suffers search outage, affecting Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
Microsoft 365 suffered a downtime Monday which prevented some customers from using the search functionality across multiple Microsoft 365 services – including Outlook on the Web, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook desktop clients.
The software giant confirmed the outage in a tweet, stating that it is "investigating an issue where users may be unable to use the search functionality in multiple Microsoft 365 services."
Although the company later revealed that it has "developed a fix to address the impact to the search feature", it is currently taking steps to validate internally "to ensure it is efficient before deploying."
This marks one of the many outages Microsoft has experienced since the year began. In January, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 services were down for thousands of users worldwide due to a networking issue.
In February, some users experienced Outlook crash for a while, and in March, Microsoft Azure Resource Manager in Europe suffered an outage caused by a code change.
As of 2022, over 345 million people used Microsoft 365 (paid seats), with the company generating $63.36 billion in revenue from the product, and commanding a market share of approximately 47.9%, according to the company.
