Microsoft plans to integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook apps
Microsoft has been reportedly experimenting with building OpenAI’s language AI technology into its Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook apps in a move that could change how more than a billion people write documents, presentations and emails, a report by The Verge stated.
Per another report by The Information, Microsoft has already incorporated an unknown version of OpenAI’s text-generating GPT model into Word in its autocomplete feature and has been working on integrating it further into Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
The company has also reportedly been using OpenAI’s GPT technology to improve Outlook email search results and is said to be assessing how these AI models could suggest replies to emails or recommend document changes. It’s however unclear if Microsoft plans to launch these features, or if it’s just experimentation for now.
Just last week, Techloy covered the story that Microsoft was reportedly planning to launch a version of Bing that uses ChatGPT to answer search queries as soon as March.
The integration of OpenAI’s language models in both Microsoft Office and Bing could potentially put a lot of pressure on Google, which currently dominates the search engine option globally.
