Microsoft OneNote's new AI feature can decipher bad writing
Microsoft’s OneNote just got a lot smarter with Copilot, an AI feature that reads and deciphers handwritten notes, turning your scribbles into clear text.
Microsoft Copilot in OneNote is set to revolutionize note taking by using AI to read and analyze handwritten notes and make sense of them.
Recently entered beta testing late last month, this feature will serve as an assistant allowing OneNote users to write handwritten notes using a stylus and then utilize Copilot to summarize, ask questions, or even generate to-do lists based on the notes, going beyond the intention to make legible, illegible texts.
Originally launched in September 2023 with a limited capability to read and analyze typed texts, Copilot now integrates fully into the latest OneNote builds (Version 2404, Build 17628.20006 or later) for Microsoft 365 Insiders
To access Copilot, simply open OneNote, navigate to your handwritten notes and choose any of the Copilot-powered actions you want to be performed for that note text. You can ask it to summarize your notes, rewrite them, or even generate to-do lists.
Once the feature launches to a broad audience, the existing Copilot for Microsoft 365 subscribers Copilot Pro will have the feature. With more than 1.2 billion Microsoft 365 users worldwide, the potential impact is going to be astronomical.
