Artificial Intelligence is everywhere now. With how quickly it is becoming a part of our lives, nearly all the tech giants have taken their spin on things, creating different ways to apply them.

Earlier this year in March, Microsoft took another spin on it and announced Recall AI, a feature meant to be launched alongside their Copilot Plus PCs in June. They had announced that the feature would roll out in weeks but after many security concerns were raised, weeks became months.

What it is intended to do is simple: take snapshots of your screen every couple of seconds to allow it to retrieve both text and visual matches when needed. This sounds great for people with foggy memory or if you can't remember where you saw something a few clicks ago. But, this came with a significant trade-off.

Since it takes snapshots of your entire screen and can 'recall' it at a moment's notice, it could very easily recall other sensitive information like passwords or other details.

According to reports, Microsoft has always maintained that Recall is secure, local, and private on-device. However, all your information could get snatched if you accidentally install malware or click a sketchy link. This was because the AI's database was not encrypted.

Fortunately, Microsoft has reportedly carried out steps towards securing the AI experience. For one, users decide to use it rather than using it by default and without your permission. Reports also state that they have encrypted its database and some authentication will be required to access it.

In a recent blog post, Microsoft stated that security continues to be their top priority. Although reasons for the delay were not given, they mentioned that the feature should begin to roll out in October but only to those in the Windows Insider programme. The blog post from Microsoft mentioned that more details will be communicated with Recall's launch.

The feature is something many can not wait to get a hold of, myself included. If all bugs and security breaches have been fixed, the feature could pick up among users quickly.
