Infinix is bringing some wild ideas to Mobile World Congress 2025.

While most brands are fine-tuning their AI assistants or refining foldables, Infinix is taking a different route – solar-powered smartphones and color-shifting back panels.

Let's take a look at some of the innovations...

Infinix SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology

One of the standout concepts is Infinix’s SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology, which takes solar charging beyond the usual "leave it under the sun" approach. Instead, the smartphone can recharge using ambient indoor light—whether it's your bedroom lamp, office lighting, or even that flickering bulb in your garage. Well, you didn’t think they’d make you cook your phone's hard drive under the sun, did you?

To make this possible, Infinix is leveraging advanced perovskite photovoltaic technology combined with AI algorithms to optimize how the phone captures and stores energy. Unlike conventional solar panels, perovskite cells are thinner, lighter, and more efficient, allowing the phone to charge at 2W even in low-light conditions.

In addition to sustainability, Infinix has also introduced a solar-charging case that enables energy transfer via discreet contact points. This ensures a steady power supply even when the phone isn’t directly exposed to light.

Infinix is calling this "Sunflower" technology, inspired by plants that instinctively turn toward sunlight. The AI-powered system constantly tweaks how it captures and stores light, making sure your phone is sipping power as much as possible within a 3-meter range.

Using Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), the system dynamically adjusts voltage, prevents overheating, and ensures optimal energy capture. It even offers emergency power access, ensuring connectivity during power outages.

While Infinix’s solar innovations focus on sustainability, a deeper level of personalization is also introduced with the E-Color Shift 2.0. This AI-driven smartphone customization feature transforms the back panel of the device into a dynamic canvas of colors and patterns without consuming power.

The E-Color Shift 2.0, is a step up from last year’s version. And this time, Infinix is letting AI do the heavy lifting. Infinix claims that you can create 30 unique combinations using six dynamic patterns and six color palettes, all of which can shift based on your preferences or external factors like the weather, wallpaper, or even surroundings.

The AI-Recognize Mode takes things further by automatically adjusting the phone’s appearance to reflect real-time environmental changes, essentially making the device an extension of your mood. Again, it’s fun and flashy, but considering most of us slap cases on our phones, the practical use might be limited.

Conclusion

Right now, these are concept devices, meaning they may never see the light of day, or if they do, they’ll likely be in a much different form. But overall, Infinix’s experiments are refreshing in an era where smartphones are starting to feel a little too predictable. I'm certain you're also grinning this isn't Apple and Samsung's yearly spot-the-difference upgrades.

While mainstream brands stick to incremental updates, Infinix is pushing boundaries with ideas that could genuinely change how we interact with our devices. Whether it’s a future where phones charge from indoor light or change their look to match your mood, it is obvious that Infinix is thinking beyond the status quo.
