New iPhone Glitch Could Crash Your Device

The iPhone has recently made headlines again when a discovery was made about a glitch in its system.

According to a report by TechCrunch, typing "":: in an iPhone's Settings Search bar or the App Library search bar would cause the phone's screen to go black before loading up the lock screen. Per the report, a security researcher raised the issue on Wednesday.

Luckily, other security researchers for iOS, like Patrick Wardle, who also founded security startup DoubleYou, have stated that it is not a security issue like other major spyware attacks Apple had to issue global warnings.

Apple’s Spyware Alert Hits iPhone Users Globally
Reports from Cisco shows a startling 25% increase in spyware incidents since 2020.

This does not seem to be a major issue unless you somehow accidentally type in that exact string of characters in those particular places. Funnily enough, attempts to trigger the glitch in-house proved negative.

Hopefully, when the next iOS update comes around, this issue gets resolved. Officially, there have been no reports of this glitch being triggered in other non-iOS devices.
