A flicker of digital freedom
It's always a win for those relying on VPNs to access apps.
Okay, so you know how Iran has had an iron grip on the internet. Social media? Blocked. VPNs? Constantly under attack. Well, guess what? Things are… err... kinda changing.
Just before Christmas, the country took the locks off WhatsApp and Google Play, with President Masoud Pezeshkian promising more changes ahead. Although the news doesn't mean 100% digital freedom for all. At least not just yet, but it’s a win for Iranians who’ve had to rely on VPNs to access foreign apps.
Can we expect more Internet and social media platforms to be open to Iranians in the future? Possibly, but there's still a long way to go.
For now, we’ll take it as a little festive gift.
See you next year!
