Elon Musk’s ambitious project to blanket the globe with high-speed satellite internet has been lighting up Africa’s digital horizon since January 2023. After signing up its first country, Nigeria, it has now covered almost 25% per cent of the continent. This week, the satellite service entered two additional African countries – Ghana and Botswana – after months of approval paperwork and country-wide bans, as noted by Louis.
With this, the satellite service continues to connect the dots across Africa's digital landscape, reaching 13 out of 54 countries on the continent, even as it is now making a significant change in how people connect to the internet, especially in regions like Africa, as Kelechi highlights.
