Text-to-Speech on Steroids

Have you tried out Google's new text-to-speech feature?

by Henry Chikwem Emmanuel Oyedeji

Imagine that you can listen to articles, blog posts, and other text files without having to read them in your browser.

With Google's new text-to-speech feature available on the Chrome browser, it is possible. When I tried using it, I noticed it had more advanced functionality than I initially thought. I could play and pause the audio, change the playback speed, choose a different voice, and switch to other languages, which I found pretty cool.

But while the voice and audio were great, it sometimes did not take note of punctuation while reading and still could not tell the difference between abbreviated words and acronyms.

Have you tried out the new feature? Tell us what you think.

Until next week,

– Henry
