Nvidia in talks to acquire Israeli AI platform Run:ai for close to $1 billion
Nvidia plans to use Run:ai's orchestration and virtualization software layer technology to ensure its AI chips function more optimally and effectively.
Nvidia is said to be in talks to acquire an Israeli-based AI infrastructure orchestration and management platform, Run:ai, for almost $1 billion.
The AI startup, which recently raised $75 million in a Series C round in March 2022, led by Tiger Global Management and Insight Partners, developed an orchestration and virtualization software layer that would help meet the needs of AI workloads running on GPUs and similar chipsets.
Nvidia, which was last week valued at $2.2 trillion, surpassing the likes of Amazon and Alphabet intends to use the OVS layer to get the most out of its AI infrastructures and ensure that its AI chips function more optimally and effectively.
If the deal goes through, it would be Nvidia’s first acquisition in Israel since it purchased Mellanox for $6.9 billion in March 2019.
