The company hopes that higher subscription costs will help offset the massive operational expenses required to power its large language models, which are estimated to run up to $7 billion annually, along with $1.5 billion in staffing costs. OpenAI is projecting losses of $5 billion and could potentially file for bankruptcy within the next year.
However, an upcoming round of funding, with potential investors like Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft, could delay such drastic measures and may value the company at $100 billion.
