The foldable phone market has become a battleground for thinness, performance, and usability. OPPO launched the Find N5 on February 20, claiming it’s the thinnest foldable in the world, surpassing Honor’s Magic V3, which previously held that title.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 remains a dominant player, thanks to its strong ecosystem. So, which of these foldable phones truly leads with innovation, usability, and, most importantly, the best balance of thinness and performance? Let's break it down.

OPPO to unveil the “world’s thinnest foldable” phone on February 20
Here’s what we know so far.

/1. Design & Display

The OPPO Find N5’s biggest claim to fame is its record-breaking thinness—just 8.93mm when folded and 4.21mm when open. That’s slimmer than the Honor Magic V3, which comes in at 9.3mm folded and 4.35mm unfolded. Samsung’s Z Fold 6, while still impressively slim for a book-style foldable, is the thickest of the trio at 12.1mm folded and 5.6mm unfolded.

Despite the OPPO Find N5’s thinness, it still features an 8.12-inch OLED LTPO main display with minimal crease visibility and a peak brightness of 2,100 nits. Honor Magic V3 boasts a slightly smaller 7.92-inch foldable OLED display with one of the most subtle creases on a foldable phone, but it beats OPPO in brightness at 5,000 nits. Samsung’s Z Fold 6 sticks with its 7.6-inch AMOLED main display, offering a similar brightness to OPPO at 2,600 nits, but the crease remains noticeable.

Which wins? If thinness is your priority, OPPO Find N5 takes the crown. But if you want the brightest, most refined display, the Honor Magic V3 edges ahead.

/2. Performance & Battery

All three foldable phones pack flagship chips but with slight variations. The OPPO Find N5 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite (7-core variant), which trades off raw power for efficiency. Honor Magic V3 opts for the full-fledged Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, promising top-tier performance. Samsung’s Z Fold 6 also runs a customized Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but is optimized for Galaxy AI features.

Battery life is where the Find N5 shines again. Despite its ultra-thin form, it houses a 5,600mAh battery, the largest of the three. Honor Magic V3 isn’t far behind with a 5,150mAh battery, while Samsung lags at 4,400mAh. Fast charging also favors the Find N5, with 80W wired and 50W wireless support, while Honor offers 66W wired and 50W wireless. Samsung sticks to a much slower 25W wired charging speed and 15W wireless.

Which wins? OPPO Find N5. It delivers a solid mix of efficiency, performance, and unmatched battery life.

/3. Features & Software

OPPO and Honor both run heavily customized Android skins—ColorOS 15.0.1 and MagicOS 9.0, respectively—offering deep multitasking and AI enhancements. Samsung, however, leads in software longevity with four years of Android updates and six years of security patches, plus deeper integration with Galaxy AI.

In terms of ecosystem, Samsung’s foldable lineup is still the most polished. It offers S Pen support, tight integration with Windows, and a proven track record for foldable durability. OPPO and Honor both offer innovative software experiences, but they lack the widespread ecosystem advantages that Samsung provides.

Which wins? Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. Its software refinement and longevity give it an edge.

/4. Cameras

The OPPO Find N5 sports a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultrawide. Meanwhile, Honor Magic V3 brings a competitive setup with a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 40MP ultrawide. Samsung’s Z Fold 6 maintains a solid but familiar camera array—50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP 3x telephoto.

Honor’s telephoto capabilities make it a standout for zoom shots, while OPPO’s Hasselblad-tuned cameras produce natural color tones. Samsung, on the other hand, relies heavily on computational photography, delivering great results but with minimal hardware changes from the Z Fold 5.

Which wins? Honor Magic V3. Its 50MP 3.5x telephoto camera gives it an advantage in zoom and portrait shots.

/5. Pricing & Value

  • OPPO Find N5 – $1,860 (S$2,499 in Singapore)
  • Honor Magic V3 – $1,630 on Amazon
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 – $1,899.99

While Samsung's Z Fold 6 is the most expensive, it offers the longest software support and a refined foldable experience. Honor Magic V3 comes in slightly cheaper with a premium camera setup but lacks global availability. OPPO Find N5 sits between the two in pricing but justifies it with cutting-edge hardware and battery life.

Which wins? OPPO Find N5. It offers the best balance of price, features, and innovation.

Final Verdict

For those who care about thinness and battery life, the OPPO Find N5 is the clear winner. On the other hand, Honor Magic V3 offers the best cameras, while Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 remains the best all-around choice for software and ecosystem integration.

Which one should you buy? If you want the absolute thinnest and longest-lasting foldable, OPPO Find N5 is the way to go. If you care about photography, Honor Magic V3 is the strongest option. But if you need a foldable that offers longevity, reliability, and deep software integration, the Z Fold 6 is still the king of the category.
