Foldables have always been about pushing boundaries, but OPPO’s upcoming Find N5 might be pushing things to the extreme. Set to launch globally on February 20, OPPO is hyping this device as the world’s thinnest book-style foldable.

While OPPO hasn’t revealed much beyond teaser images, leaks suggest the Find N5 may feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, an 8.12-inch inner display, a titanium alloy hinge, and IP-rated water resistance (IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9). There’s also talk of a triple 50MP rear camera system, 80W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging, but these details remain unconfirmed.

If the leaks hold, the Find N5, at its expected 4.2mm thickness when unfolded, could undercut the Honor Magic V3, which at 4.35mm unfolded is currently the world’s thinnest foldable. It would also be noticeably slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 (5.6mm) and the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (5.1mm).

Meanwhile, the Find N5 may build upon OPPO’s previous Find N3, which was praised for its compact form factor, performance, and hinge mechanism. The N3 was also the first foldable from OPPO to launch outside China.

With a global launch also planned this time, OPPO is likely aiming to take on Samsung’s dominance in the foldable category. But with durability concerns historically being one of the biggest pain points for thin foldables, the real test will be whether Oppo has managed to create a device that doesn’t just look sleek but actually holds up over time. It'll also be interesting to see how OPPO prices the Find N5.

For now, all we know for certain is that Oppo is making big promises. Whether the Find N5 sets a new standard for foldables or ends up making compromises for thinness is something we’ll have to wait until February 20 to find out.
