Samsung is offering free screen replacements for Galaxy phones in India
It will only focus on devices purchased within the last three years.
Samsung has begun offering a one-time free screen replacement to affected users in India who are currently experiencing the green line issue.
This move from Samsung comes after users reported a green line appearing on their phones, with the Samsung S series being the most affected. The cause of the green line isn't yet clear, as many have attributed it to varying factors such as OLED damage, hardware issues, or a broken panel.
Samsung, in a bid to solve the problem, is offering a one-time free screen replacement to only affected users in India, valid till April 30th. According to its policy, it will only focus on devices purchased within the last three years.
Affected users in India can get their screens changed by booking an appointment with a Samsung service centre. They also get to have a free battery replacement alongside the new display.
Moving on, the mobile tech giant is still keeping mum as to when it will extend its repair program to other countries apart from India, although Samsung Malaysia ran a program from January to the end of March 2024 to replace screens for affected phones at a labour cost of $16.
With over 1 billion Samsung users across the globe, which is about 14% of all smartphone users, per data from BankMyCell, it is expected that Samsung will make its repair program available to affected users in other countries at the earliest possible date.
