Samsung’s Galaxy Fold series has always led the charge in foldable design, but one aspect has remained divisive—the crease. This visible fold line, a hallmark of foldable screens, has often been a sticking point for users. Now, the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition could finally address this issue, promising Samsung’s most seamless fold yet.

According to renowned tipster Ice Universe, the Special Edition may feature Samsung’s smoothest crease control to date, making the fold line even less noticeable than on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which launched earlier this year.

This enhancement arrives at a crucial moment: after years of dominance, Samsung’s grip on the foldable market is now challenged. In Q1 2024, Huawei overtook Samsung in foldable shipments, thanks to popular 5G models like the Mate X5 and Pocket 2, which captured significant demand in China.

For Samsung, this mid-cycle refinement in crease control is likely a strategic move to reassert its leadership in the highly competitive foldable smartphone market.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is expected to launch in South Korea and China later this year, with pre-orders potentially opening this month. By releasing the model regionally, Samsung likely aims to gauge user response to its upgraded features before a potential global rollout.

Along with improved crease control, the Special Edition is also rumored to include a wider cover display, S Pen support, a slimmer profile, and a 200MP main camera—upgrades that could position it as a top-tier option among foldable phones. With Huawei’s Mate X5 also focusing on crease reduction, both brands are in a race to deliver the smoothest, most immersive viewing experience.

Adding intrigue to the foldable market is Apple’s anticipated entry by 2026. Known for its precision in design, Apple’s arrival could heighten expectations for foldable quality, particularly in crease control and durability.

Samsung’s proactive improvements with the Z Fold 6 Special Edition hint at a forward-looking strategy aimed not only at staying competitive now but also at setting standards that could shape the future of foldable technology.

While Samsung has yet to confirm these details, if the rumors prove accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition may raise the bar in foldable phone design, reinforcing Samsung’s influence and inspiring new developments across the mobile industry.
