Samsung's One UI 7 beta is now available on some Galaxy devices

Samsung's One UI 7 has been highly anticipated in the Android world. It was initially meant to launch in July 2024, but after several months of delay, Samsung finally broke the ice releasing the software update to some Samsung users in December.

The company promised One UI 7 would be simple, impactful, and emotive, and with the recent unveiling of One UI 7 Beta, we'll be the judge of that.

As expected, the beta introduces several exciting features and improvements, many of which align with earlier speculations. One of the main focuses is on creating a more intuitive and fluid user interface. Several native app icons—such as those for the camera, gallery, and settings—have received a fresh, rounded design, giving the entire system a modern and clean look.

Additionally, animations have been tweaked to make interactions feel smoother, with tasks now overlapping in a way that feels more natural, much like flipping through a book.

The highly anticipated “Now Bar” has also made its debut in One UI 7, offering quick access to key activities like music, recording, and translations right from the lock screen. This feature reduces the need to unlock your device for basic tasks, streamlining the overall experience.

AI features are another major highlight. Samsung has integrated smarter tools into the software, including a writing assistant that helps summarize content, check grammar, and format notes into bullet points. A new call transcript feature supports 20 languages, making communication even easier.

While iOS’s intelligent features clearly inspired many of these elements, Samsung has taken it a step further with its unique offerings, such as the Knox Matrix system for enhanced security and privacy.

The camera app is also expected to receive a more user-friendly layout, with key controls below the shutter button for easier one-handed use.

Also, updated widgets featuring a frosted blur effect and rounded designs is expected to be introduced bringing a sleek, iOS-inspired touch while maintaining ample customization options.

Currently, One UI 7 Beta is available for Galaxy S24 series users in markets like Germany, the UK, the US, South Korea, and Poland, though users in India are still waiting for access. Rumours say Samsung plans to release Beta 2.0 by December 12 or even December 10, offering further refinements ahead of the official One UI 7 rollout with the Galaxy S25 launch in early 2025.

With One UI 7, Samsung is delivering a refined, AI-driven user experience that blends simplicity with personalization, offering something both familiar and exciting for Android enthusiasts.
