Like many businesses worldwide, Singapore-based Grab was profoundly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The economic fallout and changing consumer behaviours led to significant challenges for the ride-hailing and food-delivery industry which resulted in a 5% reduction of its staff, equivalent to around 360 employees in 2020.

Update: Grab CEO Anthony Tan has confirmed that the company is cutting 1,000 jobs, or 11% of its workforce, to manage costs and ensure long-term affordability.
