Snapchat releases chat editing feature with a bunch of other fun updates
Snapchat, the social media platform famed for its disappearing messages, is now adding a chat editing feature – to cater to those occasional slip-ups or moments where a quick rephrase is needed before hitting send.
Users will have a five-minute window to fix typos, rephrase messages, or fine-tune their chats before they vanish – a feature already offered by most other messaging apps.
There's a twist, though. For now, this edit function is exclusive to Snapchat+ subscribers. While the wider Snapchat user base awaits potential access, Snapchat+ subscribers (currently at a bustling 9 million strong, with a $3.99 monthly subscription fee) get the privilege of using it first.

The social media app is also bringing other exciting new features to its shores including a revamped emoji reaction system to add a touch of personality to your chat responses. Another is the ability to use the new in-app assistant, My AI, to set reminders within the app. And for those feeling nostalgic, Snap also showed off a new AI lens that transforms your selfies into 1990’s-themed retro snapshots.
With these updates, Snapchat is striking a thoughtful balance, acknowledging the growing user desire for more control over communication while staying true to their core concept of disappearing messages. Whether the editing feature becomes available to everyone and how the subscription service evolves in the future remains to be seen.
