Spotify might introduce a new "Spotify Music Pro" subscription tier
Users might finally have access to HiFi audio but at a little extra cost.
For years, Apple users have argued that Apple Music is superior to Spotify, primarily due to its higher audio quality—something Spotify allegedly lacks. However, with a rumoured new subscription tier in the works, that argument may soon lose ground.
Reports suggest that Spotify is planning to introduce a new subscription tier called "Spotify Music Pro", featuring high-fidelity (HiFi) audio alongside perks like AI-powered song mixing and possible access to concert ticket deals, including presales or even better seats.

But these upgrades won’t come free. Some sources claim this tier could cost an additional $5 to $6 on top of existing subscription plans in several countries. However, nothing is set in stone, as Spotify has yet to finalize agreements with major record labels, promoters, and ticket sellers—potentially delaying the tier’s launch.
To speed up its rollout, rumours suggest that Spotify may introduce these premium features in phases rather than all at once but either way, we expect Spotify to do a lot of tests for these features.
Notably, Spotify first announced plans to introduce HiFi audio in 2021, but little progress has been made since. Despite lagging behind Apple Music and Amazon Music in implementing this feature, Spotify remains the market leader, holding a 31.7% share, followed by Tencent Music at 14.4% and Apple Music at 12.6%, according to Exploding Topics.
The company also had one of its most successful quarters last year, reporting €4.2 billion in revenue—a 16% increase from the same period in 2023, according to Techloy. With the potential launch of the Spotify Music Pro tier this year, Spotify’s numbers could climb even higher—while simultaneously stripping Apple of one of its biggest bragging points.
