Spotify is increasing its subscription price for the second time in 2024
This adjustment follows a period from 2011 to 2023 without any price increases from the music streaming service.
Spotify is set to increase its subscription prices by $1 to $2 per month, depending on the plan, marking the streaming service's second price hike within a year.
The price adjustment aims to cover the costs of adding audiobooks to the platform. Spotify had initially added more than 15 hours of audiobooks for free. However, users will now have to pay to access audiobooks.
For subscribers who do not want the audiobook feature, the music streaming giant plans to create a new tier that will exclude audiobooks. Initially, five markets – including the UK, Australia, and Pakistan – will see these changes this month, with the U.S. to follow later in the year.
