Chinese electronics and media company, StarTimes which offers digital terrestrial television and satellite television services to consumers in Africa is projected to surpass South Africa’s Pay TV service, DStv by subscriber numbers in 2025, according to a report from Digital TV Research. The research forecasts that StarTimes subscribers will increase by about 36% to reach 12.2 million by 2025 from 7.8 million at the end of 2019.
