Telegram gets close to a billion users
With nearly a billion users, Telegram is not just keeping up with the times but setting the pace in messaging and Web3 integration.
Telegram is just one step away from hitting a billion users, and it's not hard to see why. Originally known for its encryption and privacy features within the messaging app, it has steadily grown into a global powerhouse.
Following its user base growth to 900 million users in March, as reported by Techloy, Pavel Durov, the founder, recently announced that Telegram now boasts 950 million active users.
Since 2018, Telegram has actively sought to merge messaging with cryptocurrency, even launching features like ad revenue sharing with channel owners using Toncoin. Surprisingly, while the platform has faced challenges with scams since it adopted cryptocurrency, the user base is still aggressively rising.
The increase in user base is also a golden opportunity for developers, as Telegram’s push into Web3 technology, including plans for a new app store and an in-app browser supporting Web3 pages, will allow for products to be built on the application.
With plans to make 2024 a landmark year for blockchain adoption, Telegram is already positioning itself at the forefront of this tech revolution.
