Tesla's ride-hailing mobile app will feature a 3D map, music and temperature controls
It will allow customers to make passive income with their Tesla vehicles.
Tesla is driving into the ride-hailing market after a sneak peek into its ride-hailing mobile app revealed that it will unveil a robotaxi on August 8.
No doubt, that would cause some level of disruption, although Tesla would have to offer something unique if it intends to compete with the major players Uber and Lyft which have a market share of 25% and 8% respectively, per data from Statista.
The app will come with new features such as a big button that says "Summon" with a lower message for the wait time and a 3D map that would most likely provide a route to the waiting passenger and to the passenger's destination.
Other details include controls for music selection and a temperature control button to enable the passenger to set the vehicle’s climate to a preferred temperature.
Tesla will also be operating the fleet once they are ready to offer ride-hailing services and plans to allow Tesla owners the opportunity to add their vehicles to the fleet and make passive income off them.
With this, perhaps more individuals would be motivated to buy Tesla vehicles to take advantage of the opportunity which could see the company sell more units in 2024 compared to the 1.8 million units it sold in 2023.
