These 9 new AI tools will help creators on YouTube to create, engage, and monetise better
One of the tools will enable fans to support creators during live streams, similar to TikTok's model.
YouTube has been steadily expanding its lineup of AI-powered tools this year, rolling out features like AI-generated content labels, interactive video Q&A features, and more.
At its 2024 Made on YouTube event, the platform took it a step further, introducing nine new AI and non-AI features designed to help creators streamline their processes and expand their reach.
1. Dream Screen gets Veo
One of the most anticipated tool builds is the Dream Screen feature, which rolled out last year and allowed creators to generate AI-driven backgrounds.
Now powered by Google DeepMind’s Veo, this tool will enable creators to generate 6-second video B-roll clips for YouTube Shorts by simply typing in text prompts, alongside more “realistic” backgrounds.
To enhance transparency, this new feature will work along with YouTube's SynthID, a watermarking tool that identifies AI-generated content. With rising concerns over misinformation and deepfakes, it appears that YouTube taking its commitment to transparency more seriously as it continues to build trust across its platform.
2. Inspiration Tab
Beyond that, YouTube Studio’s Inspiration Tab is also getting an update, offering suggestions for video ideas, thumbnails, and titles based on previous content. This AI-powered feature could save creators time brainstorming and potentially inspire more to join the platform.
3. Auto dubbing
Auto Dubbing is another tool getting a significant upgrade. Now supporting more languages like Spanish, French, and Portuguese, it could allow creators to reach more of YouTube’s 2.7 billion global users.
4. Hype
Beyond AI, YouTube is introducing features like Hype, which allows fans to boost smaller creators' visibility by awarding "hype points."
5. Seasons and episodes
As YouTube grows in long-form content—accounting for 11% of total TV viewing time in the U.S.—the platform is introducing a seasons and episodes feature similar to Netflix's, for connected TVs. YouTube says it will help creators structure their content in a TV-friendly format.
6. Gifts, by Jewels
Monetization is also getting a boost with YouTube Gifts, powered by Jewels, enabling fans to support creators during live streams–similar to TikTok's model.
Other tools include Communities, a new space for creators and fans to engage, moving beyond traditional comment sections; YouTube Shopping's expansion to regions like Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, offering more creators monetization opportunities; and the Community hub, an upgraded space in the YouTube Studio app where creators can more easily understand and engage with their audience
Ultimately, these tools seem designed to give creators more control over their workflows. But, whether they’ll truly boost creativity or make the process feel more streamlined remains to be seen. Also, how creators adopt and balance these tools will likely shape the future of content creation on the platform.
One thing’s clear: YouTube is betting big on AI to stay ahead of competitors like TikTok. But will we see more AI-powered tools before the year ends?
Time will tell.
