This Nigerian airline's website was cloned to defraud unsuspecting passengers
The airline has dissociated its brand from the fraudulent website.
Scammers have found a new way to make money – cloning an airline's website.
Just a few days after Nigerian airline Air Peace began flights from Lagos to London, bringing down the Lagos-London route flight fare by 66%, scammers figured out a way to defraud the airline's passengers by cloning its website and using a (.uk) domain to lure unsuspecting passengers to part with their money.
Air Peace took to its official X handle on Tuesday to notify its passengers about these scammers who were parading as the company while using a cloned website named "www.flyairpeace.uk" to defraud customers who could not tell the difference between the cloned website and the official Air Peace website.
While Techloy can not authoritatively confirm this, reports say that some passengers intending to book a flight to the UK on Air Peace's website were defrauded by cybercriminals who cloned the airline's official website.
The airline has dissociated its brand from the fraudulent website, stating that its only website remained "www.flyairpeace.com." It further advised members of the public to ignore the site as it is impersonating Air Peace and fleecing passengers.
