TikTok and its Chinese version, Duoyin on iOS, which offers the same short-form vertical video captures, retained the top spot as the top grossing mobile app on the App Store and Google Play for the fourth time in a row, with $914.4 million generated in the quarter despite the 5% YoY fall in consumer spending in Q3 of 2022 in report by Sensor Tower.

It stands as the top-grossing non-game app in the App Store and only settled second behind Google’s own storage subscription service, Google One which had generated $330 million, in the Google Play Store. TikTok, including Douyin have generated around $6.3 billion in total revenue combined.

TikTok again led as the most downloaded non-game app across both the Google Play store and the iOS App Store combined, as global consumer mobile application downloads mark a slight 1% YoY decrease in the third quarter of 2022, with downloads reaching an approximate 196.5 million installs.

Remember in Q1 2022, Tiktok deposed Instagram as the most downloaded mobile application across platforms (App Store and Google Play), hitting over 3.5 billion downloads, a feat no non-Meta app has managed. Tiktok continues to dominate as more online thrill seekers continue to adopt the short form video platform.
