TikTok expands its creator program to Brazil, Japan, and South Korea
Following the trend of social media content monetization, TikTok is taking its revamped creator fund, known as the "Creativity Program Beta," to a global audience.
TikTok, which boasts over 1 billion daily users and well over 100,000 influencers, per data from Statista, launched its Creator Fund last year to financially assist its creators by enabling them to earn directly from the platform.
It later decided to revamp the program to better meet the growing needs of its creator community and offer more ways to monetize its content. Introduced in February, this new program dubbed the "Creativity Program Beta" essentially replaces the original TikTok Creator Fund, aiming to generate higher revenue and unlock more real-world opportunities for creators.
What is TikTok's Creativity Program Beta?
The goal is to provide eligible creators with funding for content creation, access to growth and monetization opportunities, and direct support from TikTok's team. Notably, the original creator fund still exists, but it’s not clear what will happen once the Creativity Program leaves the beta stage.
Which countries are eligible for TikTok's Creativity Program Beta?
Now, TikTok is expanding the program to cater to creators beyond the United States, to eligible creators in countries like Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom and intends to continue expanding this program to more countries in the future.
How can you become a TikTok Creator?
According to TikTok, creators need to be making high-quality, original video content longer than a minute in order to be eligible to earn money through the fund. Users also need to have at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 authentic views on their videos in the last 30 days in order to be eligible.
The move to expand the program aligns with the original TikTok creator fund, which promised to pay out $1 billion over three years to TikTok creators.
The Creativity Program is part of TikTok’s suite of monetization tools which includes live subscriptions and TikTok Pulse. TikTok also has a slew of monetization features for popular creators including paywalled content, and an in-app tipping feature during live streams.
