TikTok now lets you find songs by singing or humming them
Just after YouTube Music released its shazam-like feature for all devices last week, TikTok has followed suit. With TikTok's new sound search feature, you can easily identify a song by humming or singing its tune. The competition is heating up and it isn't hard to tell who this doesn't look good for; YouTube Music, Shazam, or SoundHound?
This feature will analyze your vocal input and compare it to a vast music database. Once a match is found, the app provides information about the song, including the title, artist, and a link to the full track. You can then add the song to your videos or explore more content related to the identified track.
While the feature is being tested, it is expected to be widely available in the coming months. Although TikTok is given no official launch dates, it is available to a small group of users.
If you have access to the feature, you can navigate to it by going to your search bar in the app, clicking the microphone icon, and then selecting “Sound Search.”
With TikTok being one of the most popular music-sharing platforms having over 1 billion monthly active users, third-party applications like Shazam and SoundHound will be in a chokehold in the coming months.
