TikTok returns to the U.S. app stores after nearly a month
You can now get the latest version of TikTok on the App Store and the Google Play.
For those that missed the app that's given us viral dances, questionable fashion trends, and oh enough life hacks to fill a library, well, it is back to, you know, consume all your free time.
After a 27-day hiatus following its ban in the United States on January 19, 2025, TikTok has made a comeback to both the App Store and Google Play. If you were unable to download or update TikTok in the past month, you can now get the latest version and reconnect with your favorite creators, engage with friends, and discover new people to follow.
The social media platform's Android app saw 6.8 million downloads in the U.S. during January 2025, a decrease of 19% month-on-month, according to data from Similarweb. It won't be surprising if the download figures decrease in February, but we can also expect a huge surge in downloads.
While TikTok's return is certainly good news, the platform's future is still uncertain. The concerns that led to its AWOL moment still linger, and there's a possibility of further regulations or the platform being sold off to another owner.
